Indians Take Title in Wood Bat Tourney


UNION CITY, Ind. –
With a pair of five-inning victories on Saturday, Union City won the Dylan Williams Memorial Wood Bat Baseball Invitational.

The Indians opened with a 13-3 victory over Ansonia before beating Southern Wells 14-3 in the title contest.

Union City scored eight times in the fifth inning to close out the championship game.

Cameron Luster had a pair of triples to drive in three runs for the Indians.

Nic Wells and Trevor Spence both had two hits.

On the base paths, the Indians had success as Zach Bradbury had four steals with Spence swiping three and Wells two.

Gabe Loesch went the distance on the mound with five strikeouts. At the plate, he drove in two runs.

Opening Game

Wells led the way for the Indians with three hits and two RBI, while working three innings on the mound to earn the win with three strikeouts.

Keaton Collins had a pair of hits to go with two RBI. Bradbury added two hits.

Loesch had three RBI and Jacob Fulk had five stolen bases.

Union City (6-2-1) entertains Wel-Del on Monday.
