KNIGHTSTOWN, Ind. – The Union City girls basketball team won its first Tri-Eastern Conference contest of the season on Saturday as the Indians defeated Knightstown 55-48.
Justiss Cantu and Mackenzie Green led the Indians with 12 apiece.
Cantu finished with six rebounds, six assists and six steals. Green had five steals.
Maddy Cox and Mya Carpenter both tossed in eight points. Sophia Spence had five steals.
For the Panthers, Kaitlyn Jackson finished with 12 points, two rebounds, six steals and three assists.
Jessica Butler also had 12 points to go with seven rebounds and a steal.
Allyson Hauk had six points. Sidney Vise added four points, five rebounds and four assists, while Lori Thomas had four points, three rebounds and four assists. Dharma Holder had four points and three rebounds.
Union City won the JV game 40-25. Sophia Spence led the way with 11 points and Luzy Corona added 10. They are now 6-2 and will also be back in action on Wednesday.
Knightstown (2-7, 0-5) visits Southwestern (5-3) on Tuesday.
The Indians (3-6, 1-2) travel to TEC foe Centerville (3-6, 1-2) on Wednesday.
