Indians Win TEC Contest with Knights

UNION CITY, Ind. – The Union City girls basketball team picked up a 71-21 victory over Northeastern on Saturday in the Tri-Eastern Conference opener for both teams.

The Indians had three players reach double figures as they recorded their third straight win. Union City had a quick start to lead 20-2 after one period as the Indians were on their way to a 37-8 advantage at the intermission.

Courtney Wise led the way for Union City with 24 points and 13 rebounds. Kelsey Zimmers tossed in 15 points, while Baylee Hartman joined Wise with a double-double as she added 12 points and 11 rebounds. Justiss Cantu had 11 assists and six steals for Union City.

Northeastern was led by Chaise Helton, who had seven points. Leah Hoskins scored six points for the Knights.

Union City (3-0, 1-0) returns to the court at Jay County on Tuesday, Nov. 17. Northeastern (0-3, 0-1) is at Cowan on Friday, Nov. 20.
