PORTLAND, Ind. – Winchester ran into a tough opponent on Saturday as the Falcons lost 60-22 at Jay County in girls basketball action.
Liz Pegg led Winchester with 10 points against the unbeaten Patriots (5-0).
Becca Neville added four points for the Falcons (3-3).
The contest was tight early as Jay County led 14-12 after one period, but the Patriots pulled away in the second quarter to lead 32-16 by halftime.
The Falcons also fell for the first time in the JV contest 40-30.
Shelby Miller had 16 points with five rebounds, while Kira Robinson tossed in eight points.
Winchester returns to action on Wednesday with a home contest against Tri-Eastern Conference foe Hagerstown.
