KNIGHTSTOWN, Ind. – Northeastern opened the season on Friday night with a 20-7 victory over Knightstown.
The Knights grabbed a 12-0 advantage in the first quarter on a pair of touchdowns by Connor Bray.
Tyler Burton found Lane Parker for a touchdown pass as the Panthers closed the gap to 12-7 in the second period.
Northeastern finished the scoring with another touchdown by Bray coming in the third frame.
Tyler Jaykoski had an interception for the Knights.
Lane finished with three catches for 50 yards, while Burton was 4-of-9 for 66 yards. Burton also led the Panthers on the ground with 102 yards.
Garrett Thomas led Knightstown’s defense with 12 tackles.
Northeastern (1-0) entertains Winchester next Friday in a battle of the defending TEC co-champs.
