INDIANAPOLIS – The Northeastern softball team opened its season on Tuesday with a 12-1 loss at Indianapolis Scecina.
The Crusaders (3-0) were ranked No. 8 in the pre-season poll conducted by the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association.
Katie Schneider gave the Knights an early 1-0 advantage with her first home run of the season. She hit 16 long balls a year ago.
From that point, Scecina scored two in the bottom of the first to take the lead for good.
Faith Sebert led Northeastern with two hits.
The Knights (0-1) entertain sixth-ranked Wapahani on Wednesday.
