CENTERVILLE, Ind. – The Northeastern baseball team punched its ticket to Monday’s championship game of the Class 2A sectional at Centerville with a 9-5 win over the host Bulldogs.
“Our pitchers are throwing really well right now,” Northeastern Head Coach Steve Bray said. “Tonight, we put together some very important timely hitting.”
The Knights (15-9) meet Union County (23-6) for the sectional crown at 7 p.m. Union County beat Winchester 10-0 to earn its spot in the title affair.
Northeastern’s Mason Fisher worked into the seventh inning as he recorded nine strikeouts before the Bulldogs rallied in the final frame. Dylan Baker was able to stop the Bulldogs in the seventh as they scored all five of their runs.
Tanner Wilson, Conner Bray, Tyler Dale and Kaleb Loaiza each had two hits for the Knights as they built a 9-0 advantage heading into the last inning.
Chris Pritchett had a bases clearing triple for the Bulldogs (12-10), while Guy Rednour and Dalton Steven each drove in a run.
