UNION CITY, Ind. – The Northeastern football team won its fourth straight Tri-Eastern Conference championship on Friday as the Knights defeated Union City 70-16.
Ryan Hartmann and Josh Tudor each ran for three scores as the Knights finished the season at 7-2 overall and tied with Winchester at 6-1 in the league. Hartmann gained 163 yards as he reached 1,079 for the regular season. Tudor had 93 yards.
Connor Bray added 145 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns.
Kaleb Mikesell started the scoring in the contest with an 80-yard return of the opening kickoff.
Union City got touchdowns from Jacob Moore on an 81-yard fumble return and a 17-yard run by Kayled Leedom.
Hartmann led the Knights with 12 tackles and Tudor had an interception that he returned for a touchdown.
The Knights travel Indianapolis Howe (5-4) to open sectional play next Friday, while Union City (3-6, 2-5) entertains Shenandoah (7-2).
