FOUNTAIN CITY, Ind. – The Northeastern football team used a big second quarter on Friday to break open a tight contest as the Knights beat Union County 64-6.
With an 8-6 lead after the first period of the Tri-Eastern Conference affair, the Knights exploded for 28 points to build a 26-6 halftime advantage.
Northeastern had three players exceed the 100-yard mark on the ground. Connor Bray led the way with 142 yards rushing with Josh Tudor added 124 and Ryan Hartmann ending with 123. All three also ran for a pair of touchdowns apiece.
Jacob Auger completed 5-of-8 passes for 81 yards that included a 26-yard touchdown toss to Bray.
Defensively, Tudor topped the Knights with 13 tackles.
Union County scored the first first touchdown of the contest in the opening frame when Cameron Donovan grabbed a 26-yard pass from Caleb Greene.
Greene finished the night with 6-of-15 passing with 97 yards. Donovan had five catches for 84 yards.
Nate Webb led the Patriots on defense with seven tackles.
The Knights (5-2, 4-1) entertain Lincoln (1-6, 1-4) next Friday, while Union County (2-5, 1-4) visits Centerville (2-5, 2-3).
