FOUNTAIN CITY, Ind. – Northeastern’s boys tennis team won a tight 3-2 contest over Tri-Eastern Conference foe Union City on Thursday.
Winners of three of its last four matches, Northeastern swept the singles contests as Nate Irwin defeated Trevor Spence 7-5, 6-3 at No. 1. At No. 2, Elijah Kenworthy beat Zach Bradbury 7-6 (7-3), 6-0. In the third position, Zach Gulley won over Elijah Thornburg 6-1, 6-0.
The Indians took both doubles matches. Gabe Loesch and Jacob Bradbury defeated Hunter Delk and Michael White 6-0, 6-2 in the top spot. At No. 2, Chase Jefferies and Jacob Fulk beat Peyton Cohee and Zack Jaykoski 6-1, 6-0.
Both teams return to action on Monday with Northeastern at Tri and Union City traveling to Union County.
