Knights Win TEC Contest with Lincoln

FOUNTAIN CITY, Ind. –
Northeastern won its 32nd straight Tri-Eastern Conference game on Friday as the Knights defeated Lincoln 49-39.

“Freeman Brou stepped up and played well,” Northeastern Head Coach Brent Ross said. ” Cole Mikesell also had a nice game for us.”

Brou led the Knights with 18 points as he grabbed seven rebounds.

Mikesell added 13 points, while Alex Reynolds had seven rebounds.

Garrett Pumphrey led the Golden Eagles with 14 points and eight rebounds.

Caleb Craig finished with 11 points. Cameron Gwin tossed in eight points.

The game was tied at 14-14 after the first quarter.

“I loved our energy and the effort,” Lincoln Head Coach Rodney Klein said.

Northeastern led 23-21 at the intermission.

A third quarter 8-0 run made the difference for the Knights as they took a 31-21 lead with 4:59 left in the period as Caylor Fisher hit a pair of free throws.

“We were able to withstand some illness through out the week and get the win,” Ross said. “(Lincoln Head) Coach (Rodney) Klein had his team ready to play as he always does and it was a good TEC game.”

Northeastern (10-5, 3-0) entertains Muncie Burris (4-11) on Saturday.

Lincoln (6-9, 1-2) is also in action at home on Saturday as the Golden Eagles meet Daleville (9-5).
