Late Rally Helps Patriots Earn Victory

OSGOOD, Ind. – The Union County boys basketball team survived a slow start on Saturday night as the Patriots beat Jac-Cen-Del 63-60.

“We trailed the entire game until there was about three minutes left,” Union County Head Coach Mark Detweiler said. “Just couldn’t make shots early and we got down 11-3.”

After trailing by eight at the end of one period, Union County was behind 29-21 at halftime.

“Our press and transition offense made the difference,” Detweiler said of his team’s performance in the second half.

The Eagles led 47-39 at the third stop before the Patriots rallied for the victory. The scored 442 points over the final two quarters.

Logan Sanford led the Patriots with 22 points against the Eagles (10-4).

Dillon Miller tossed in 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Mason Miller contributed eight points.

The Patriots won the JV contest 42-32.

Union County (11-6) visits Lincoln on Thursday for a Tri-Eastern Conference game.
