DUBLIN, Ind. – Lincoln’s softball team picked up a 12-2 win on Tuesday to advance to the semifinal round of the Class 1A sectional hosted by the Golden Eagles at Wilson Park.
“Once we got out bats going, it went the way I expected,” Lincoln coach Scott Griffin said.
The Golden Eagles were tied 2-2 after two innings before they added three runs in the third and seven more in the fourth.
Lincoln (10-10) faces Tri (21-3) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Titans moved on with a 2-0 win over Union.
“Timely hitting,” Griffin said will be the deciding factor against the Titans. “Whatever team gets the hits when they need them will probably be victorious.”
Sydney Miller led the Golden Eagles with two hits as she drove in three runs against the Rockets.
Hannah Hall hit a homer and had four RBI.
Laynie Russell went all five innings on the mound for the Golden Eagles to get the win as she held the Indians to three hits with seven strikeouts.
