CAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind. – Although Lincoln Head Boys Basketball Coach Rodney Klein was disappointed with Saturday’s outcome against Shenandoah, he was pleased with his team.
“I though we played really well,” Klein said of the 62-52 loss to the Class 2A No. 4 Raiders (16-1).
“Shenandoah is a very good basketball team,” he continued. “For us to hold them to 20 at the half, I thought we were in pretty good shape.”
But mistakes hurt the Golden Eagles (8-9), who led 24-20 at the intermission.
“At the end of the day, we just made too many turnovers,” Klein said. “We had 23 as a team and gave them eight offensive rebounds.”
The Raiders managed to score 37 points off the turnovers and offensive put-backs.
Chase Southerland topped Lincoln with 28 points as he hit six 3-pointers.
Garrett Pumphrey added 10 points, 13 rebounds and a dozen blocks. Hunter Ferris also contributed 10 points.
“The kids played hard,” Klein said. “We executed well and we shot the ball well. We’ve made some big strides in the last week and we’ve got four tough games left.”
Lincoln (2-3 in the Tri-Eastern Conference) entertains Winchester on Friday. The Falcons are 12-5 overall and 3-2 in the TEC.
