CAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind. – Lincoln’s girls basketball team has four letter winners returning as the Golden Eagles prepare for Friday’s season opener.
The Golden Eagles entertain Anderson Prep Academy on Nov. 13.
Junior Kerrigan Neff is the top scorer back after posting 12.8 points and 8.7 rebounds per game a year ago to earn a spot on the All-Tri-Eastern Conference Team.
Neff’s classmate, Kylei Klein tossed in 9.9 points per contest to go with a 10.2 rebounding average. She was All-TEC Honorable mention.
“This is another young group with only one senior,” Lincoln Head Coach Rob Bills said. “Our younger players have been successful at the middle school level, so we hope they will provide depth and take some pressure off of Klein and Neff.”
Sophomores Hannah Hall and Olivia Davis are the other returning letter winners.
The newcomers on the roster are senior Dakota Harrison, sophomore Jessica Harmer and the fresham class of Allie Owens, Laynie Russell, Emmie Pugh and Rachel Merida. Missing from the team due to an injury is junior Lauren Weston, who started every game last season.
“This group has been very enthusiastic and practices have been very competitive,” Bills said. “We need to sustain that to improve over last year’s (4-18) record.”
“We want to push the ball offensively up the floor and be stingy defensively,” Bills added.
The Golden Eagles travel to Centerville for their initial TEC of the season on Tuesday, Nov. 24.
