INDIANAPOLIS – The Lincoln girls basketball team closed out its season on Saturday morning with a 75-49 loss to third-ranked Covenant Christian in the first game of the Class 2A regional at Speedway.
“The kids played really well,” Lincoln Head Coach Rob Bills said. “The final is nowhere close to being indicative of the closeness of the game.”
Lincoln stayed with Covenant Christian (21-5) through out the contest until the final quarter as the Warriors finished the game by outscoring the Golden Eagles 26-11.
“(Kerrigan) Neff played well and (Kylei) Klein was a monster on the boards,” Bills said.
Neff led the Golden Eagles (14-11) with 17 points.
Klein had 16 points and grabbed a team-high 14 rebounds.
Allie Owens finished with seven points.
After winning their first sectional since 2005, the Golden Eagles finish the season with a 14-11 record. They had their seven-game winning steak snapped and ended their slate with wins in 10 of their last 13 contests.
