FOUNTAIN CITY, Ind. – The Lincoln girls basketball team had a big third quarter on Friday night as the Golden Eagles defeated Northeastern 59-36.
Lincoln built a 22-16 advantage by halftime in the Tri-Eastern Conference affair, but the Golden Eagles then took off to hold a 42-22 lead by the end of the third period in the regular season finale for both teams.
“I’m really proud of the kids,” Lincoln Head Coach Rob Bills said. “We were 8-2 over the last 10 games.”
“We improved over last year’s four wins,” Bills added.
Kerrigan Neff led Lincoln with 16 points, while Kylei Klein added 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Allie Owens tossed in 10 points and Emmie Pugh finished with eight.
Madi Clay led Northeastern with 12 points, while Tatum Jordan added nine points and 10 rebounds for the Knights.
Leah Hoskins had eight points.
Both teams head to the Class 2A sectional at Union County next week.
Northeastern (2-19, 0-7) faces Centerville in Tuesday night’s second game.
Lincoln (12-10, 3-4) drew a bye until Friday night’s opening contest.
The Golden Eagles play the winner of Tuesday’s first game featuring Hagerstown and Union County.
