Lincoln Wins Second Straight

LincolnCAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind. – Lincoln Head Girls Basketball Coach Rob Bills was pleased with his team’s second straight victory on Saturday as the Golden Eagles defeated Seton 47-23.

“I liked our energy,” Bills said. “We just want to get up and down the floor and we want put a lot of pressure on people. We’re still not happy with our defense, but we’ll get better.”

Offensively, the Golden Eagles didn’t quite start as fast as the did in Friday’s season opening 82-9 won over Anderson Prep.

“We did stuff early we just didn’t put the ball in the basket,” Bills said. “We just made more shots (against Anderson Prep).”

Kerrigan Neff led the Golden Eagles with 17 points, while grabbing six rebounds.

“Kerrigan has really played well,” Bills said.

And so has Lincoln’s younger players. There were three freshman starters in the lineup that was missing a All-Tri-Eastern Conference Honorable Mention selection from last year in Kylei Klein, who was attending another school function.

“We’re young and we’re going to learn every night,” Bills said. “It’s really important for us to do things a certain way. We didn’t talk about our opponents this week. We talked about how we do things and I think they understand that better now.”

After leading 7-4 at the first stop, Lincoln pulled away in the second quarter as the Golden Eagles built a 22-6 halftime advantage. Neff led the way with seven of the team’s 15 points in the period.

Neff had her final eight points in the third frame as Lincoln added to its margin lead 41-12.

Emmie Pugh scored eight points for Lincoln, while Allie Owens and Dakota Harrison tossed in six each. Owens led the Golden Eagles with nine rebounds.

Lincoln (2-0) visits Lapel on Friday, Nov. 20.
