CAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind. – Lincoln picked up a pair of victories on Saturday in the Healthy Hoopla Boys Basketball Shootout as the Golden Eagles defeated Christel House 71-38 and Indianapolis Lighthouse East 68-52.
“I thought we played really well today as far as shooting the ball,” Lincoln Head Coach Rodney Klein said. “The final game, we turned the ball over 30 times and and still scored 68 points.”
“We got great looks and made those shots, but we just can’t turn it over that much,” Klein added.
The Golden Eagles had three players in double figures in the opener against Christel House as Caleb Craig led the way with 13 points.
“The day started out great,” Klein said. “I thought we played well offensively, but our defense bothered me a little bit. I thought we gave up too many drives to the rim and relied on Garrett to block shots.”
Darian Bishop added 12 and Cameron Gwin tossed in 11. Hayden Pierce finished with nine.
Garrett Pumphrey and Bryce Smith both contributed eight points. Pumphrey added 13 rebounds and 11 blocks.
In the second contest, Bishop led the way with 23 points.
Pumphrey had 19 with Gwin tossing in 13.
For their efforts on the day, Pumphrey and Bishop were both selected to the All-Tournament Team.
The other members of the All-Tournament Team were Dirrius Kimmins and Tarrance Edwards of Indianapolis Lighthouse East, Jerimyah Mundy and Emanuel Lewis of Indiana Math & Science along with Jeff Davis and Jerome Hilliard of Christel House.
In the other two contests on Saturday, Indiana Lighthouse East defeated Indiana Math & Science 70-68, while Indiana Math & Science beat Christel House 80-70.
Lincoln (2-1) travels to Union (0-2) on Friday.
