CAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind. – Lincoln softball player Hannah Hall announced on Monday that she is headed to Wilmington College.
“It’s special for her,” Lincoln Head Coach Scott Griffin said. “I’m really pleased for her knowing how long she has been committed to this.”
A Division III school, Wilmington is located about 35 miles southeast of Dayton, Ohio.
“I decided I wanted to do athletic training as a major,” Hall said. “They have a huge athletic training program.”
The Quakers, who are coached by Beth Floyd, compete in the Ohio Valley Conference.
“She has really encouraged me,” said Hall, who is the daughter of Jason and Pam. “She’s always been there and talked to me a lot.”
Griffin described Hall in one word.
“Tenacity,” he said. “That’s probably the one word that would cover the most ground. She never gives up and she works hard.”
“She doesn’t get too overwhelmed by any one bump in the road,” Griffin continued. “She gives you everything she has. I’m excited to see what she does at this next level.”
Hall said she will likely continue to pitch and possibly get some action in the outfield.
“I know I’m going to have to earn a lot of time,” said Hall, who also played volleyball and basketball for the Golden Eagles.
A two-time All-Tri Eastern Conference performer in softball, Hall has 16 wins in her career with an ERA of 3.55. She also has 211 strikeouts in 193 innings entering her final high school season.
“I don’t have as much pressure on me right now,” Hall said of making her decision prior to the start of the softball season. “It was kind of stressful. I know it is going to be good.”
Hall has a .383 career batting average after hitting .438 a year ago to lead the Golden Eagles. Along with teammate Emmie Pugh, Hall was selected as Lincoln’s Co-Most Valuable Player last season.
