KNIGHTSTOWN, Ind. – A big third quarter helped the Northeastern boys basketball team to its 31st straight Tri-Eastern Conference victory on Friday as the Knights defeated Knightstown 60-43.
Leading 22-19 at the half, Northeastern hit five 3-pointers as the Knights built a 45-30 advantage on their way to the win.
Carter Lumpkin and Jalen Hillard both hit a pair from long range, while Cole Mikesell added the other during the stretch.
Lumpkin led the Knights with 18 points.
Freeman Brou added 15 points as Jalen Hillard finished with 12 and Mikesell had eight.
The Panthers were led by Tyler Burton with 10 points.
Jose Olivo tossed in eight points and Garrett Thomas grabbed eight rebounds.
Northeastern won the JV contest 40-34 as Wes Mull led the way with 16 points. Mike White added nine points and nine rebounds.
The Knights (8-5, 2-0) entertain Rushville (2-11) on Friday night.
The Panthers (5-7, 3-2) travel to Winchester (2-7, 1-1) for a TEC contest next Saturday.
