The top performance in Major League Baseball this week was by Jake Arrieta of the Chicago Cubs.
The 29-year old right-hander picked up a pair of wins over his last two starts including a no-hitter.
Arrieta tossed his no-hitter on the road against the Los Angeles Dodgers in a 2-0 decision on Sunday, Aug. 30. He had 12 strikeouts, while walking one.
In his next outing in Wrigley Field, Arrieta gave up four hits as he shutout the Arizona Diamondbacks over eight innings with seven strikeouts as the Cubs went on to win 2-0 on Saturday, Sept. 5.
He surrendered two of the hits in the first inning, but he went on to win his seventh straight start.
This season, Arreita leads the majors in victories with an 18-6 record. He is second in the big leagues with an ERA of 2.03.
