The right-hander was one out away from a perfect game when he hit Jose Tabata. He finished the contest one batter later. He threw 106 pitches and had 10 strikeouts.
Saturday’s effort for Scherzer followed a 4-0 one-hit victory at Milwaukee on Sunday, June 14. He had 16 strikeouts against the Brewers, while allowing one walk. This season, Scherzer is 8-5 with a 1.76 ERA.
Grichuk led the Cardinals to a 10-1 win in Philadelphia on Saturday, June 20. The outfielder was 3-for-5 with a pair of homers and a double, while knocking in four runs..
In 2015, Grichuk is batting .285 with six home runs and 18 RBI.
