The top performances in Major League Baseball this week were by Kendrys Morales of the Kansas City Royals and Jacob deGrom of the New York Mets.
Morales led the Royals to a 5-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on May 22. Morales was had three hits and five RBI in Kaufman Stadium.
The Kansas City designated hitter hit a three-run homer in the first inning against Lance Lynn. In the third, he blasted a two-run shot as he knocked in all five runs in the win.
This season, Morales is batting .302 with six homers and 37 RBI.
St. Louis was also a 5-0 victim of deGrom the day before at Citi Field on May 21.
In eight innings, deGrom blanked the Cardinals on one hit with 11 strikeouts. Matt Carpenter had a single in the first inning for the Cardinals lone hit against deGrom.
The right hander threw 104 pitches as he raised his record to 5-4 with a 2.75 ERA.
