The top performances in Major League Baseball this week were by Denard Span and Dan Uggla of the Washington Nationals and Mike Leake of the Cincinnati Reds.
Span and Uggla were key performers in the Nationals 13-12 win on April 28 in Atlanta. Span was 5-of-6 with three doubles and four runs scored with a solo homer.
Uggla had three hits and knocked in five runs. His three-run blast in the top of the ninth inning proved to be the game-winner.
Leake (1-1) picked up his first win of the season as he blanked the Braves for eight innings. He threw 97 pitches and gave up two hits and fanned three. The Reds ended up winning the contest in Atlanta 5-1 on April 30.
