FOUNTAIN CITY, Ind. – Northeastern opened its boys basketball team on Tuesday with a 68-57 win over Monroe Central.
Florida Southern recruit Tyler Smith led the second-ranked Knights with 27 points and five rebounds.
Nate Reynolds added 17 points, six rebounds and three steals.
Kaleb Mikesell was a big contributer off the bench with four points, three rebounds, two assists, two steals and a blocked shot.
Monroe Central won the JV contest 36-31. Cole Mikesell led the Knights with 11 points, while Caylor Fisher had eight rebounds and four blocked shots.
Wesley Mull contributed seven points, four rebounds, five assists and six steals.
The Knights (1-0) entertain Covenant Christian on Tuesday.
