COWAN, Ind. – Northeastern and Centerville had an unusual baseball doubleheader on Saturday as the three teams met at Cowan.
Centerville opened the day with an 11-3 victory over Cowan.
With a rain out earlier this week, Northeastern and Centerville decided to play a Tri-Eastern Conference affair in the second game as the Knights won 3-2.
Northeastern ended the unique afternoon with a 21-10 victory over the Blackhawks.
In the TEC game, Northeastern took a 2-0 lead in the third inning on solo homers by Garrett Dill and Dylan Baker.
Jack Willis had a run-scoring single in the bottom of the third to cut Centerville’s deficit in half.
Both teams scored in the sixth. Tyler Dale knocked the run for the Knights with a double, while Matt Stamper hit a sacrifice fly to make it 3-2.
Dale and Dill led Northeastern with two hits. Devin Christian topped the Bulldogs with two hits.
Mason Fisher was the winning pitcher for the Knights as he tossed a complete game.
Nolan Witte got the loss for the Bulldogs as he worked five innings.
Centerville vs. Cowan
Centerville scored six times in the second inning against Cowan as the Bulldogs took control of the contest.
Stamper, Willis and Justyn North led Centerville with three hits each. North knocked in three runs and Willis add two RBI.
Christian picked up the win with five innings on the mound and Dalton Stevens tossed the last two frames.
Northeastern vs. Cowan
Fisher had four hits with a pair of 2 RBI as the Knights blasted Cowan.
Austin Kenworthy had three hits as he knocked in six runs.
Dill, Baker, Cole Retter, and Kaleb Mikesell had two hits each.
Tanner Wilson picked up the win (1-0) for the Knights.
Northeastern (4-3, 1-1) entertain Monroe Central on Monday. Centerville (4-5, 1-1) faces Connersville at home on Tuesday.
