BATESVILLE, Ind. – Defense was the key for the top-ranked Northeastern boys basketball team on Thursday as the Knights beat Batesville 57-28.
“We played really well defensively,” Northeastern Head Coach Brent Ross said. “It was probably our best game defensively.”
Robert Smith recorded a double-double as he led the Knights with 19 points and 13 rebounds against the Class 3A Bulldogs (0-5).
Bailey Stewart tossed in 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds for Class 2A’s No. 1 team.
Tyler Smith was the third Northeastern player to reach double figures in scoring as he finished with 10 points. He also handed out five assists.
Nate Reynolds contributed eight points for the Knights.
The Knights (4-0) entertain Seton on Saturday in a battle of ranked squads. Seton is No. 6 in the latest Class 1A poll.
