LIBERTY, Ind. – Centerville and Union County are set to play for the Class 2A Union County Sectional on Thursday.
Union County opened Wednesday’s action with a 5-3 victory over defending champion Northeastern, while Centerville beat Hagerstown 10-0 in six innings.
This will be the second meeting between the two teams this season with the Bulldogs winning 4-0 on May 14.
Union County scored twice in the first inning and added three more in the third for all of the runs that the Patriots would need.
Haylee Richards had a hit and drove in three of Union County’s runs.
Fayth Hill had a hit to knock in a run, while Rainey Shepler added the other RBI.
Shepler tossed all seven innings to get the win.
For the Knights, Bri Shepard led the way with two hits. Lena Smith, Kelsey Cottingim and Sidney Dill each had a RBI.
Centerville’s Kenzie Lanman was nearly perfect as she no-hit the Tigers with 15 strikeouts. The only Hagerstown batter to reach base was hit by a pitch.
Jade Hill led Centerville’s offense with three hits, while Lanman added two hits and knocked in three runs.
Cassidy Weiss had a pair of hits and two RBI. Kelsee Troutwine drove in two runs.
