LIBERTY, Ind. – The Union County girls basketball team closed out the regular season on Friday with a 43-21 victory over Centerville.
“It was senior night,” Union County Head Coach Scott Gray said. “We had a great crowd.”
“Our kids were ready to play,” Gray continued. “I’m very happy for all of them.”
The Patriots started the Tri-Eastern Conference game with a 10-2 lead after one period and at halftime they were up 23-14. At the third stop, Union County led 33-16.
Sammie Elleman led Union County with 20 points eight rebounds.
Maddie Fulton finished with 16 points and seven rebounds.
Sierra Dowler added five points and five rebounds.
Centerville was led by Savanna Kates, who had nine points.
Kaylin Smith grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
Lauren Honkomp contributed six points, five rebounds, four steals and two assists.
Both teams return to action on Tuesday in the Class 2A sectional in Liberty.
The host Patriots (14-8, 5-2) face Hagerstown in the opening contest, while Centerville (4-15, 1-6) meets Northeastern in the second game.
