WINCHESTER, Ind. – The Union County girls basketball team had three players in double figures on Saturday night as the Patriots defeated Winchester 46-34.
Even with the balanced offense, defense was the key for the Patriots, who are 8-5 overall and 3-1 in the Tri-Eastern Conference.
“A great defensive effort,” Union County Head Coach Scott Gray said. “It was a great road win for our program and allows us to still be in the conference race.”
The Patriots jumped out to a 15-4 advantage after the first quarter and they were able to maintain the lead the rest of the way.
Sierra Dowler led the Patriots with 13 points, while Tanner Henry tossed in a dozen. Madison Walters added 11.
Mariah Roberts topped the Falcons with 10 points. Liz Pegg finished with seven points and Becca Neville ended with six points and 16 rebounds.
Winchester won the JV contest 48-11 with three players in double figures led by Hannah Graft with 12 points. Shelby Miller and Kira Robinson each had 11.
