RICHMOND, Ind. – The Union County girls golf team will get to play for at least another week.
The Patriots posted a season-best 375 as they took second in the Richmond Sectional at the Elk Country Club on Saturday.
Franklin County won with a 348, while Richmond was third with a 380.
In addition to those three teams, the top three individuals on non-qualifying teams advance to the Lapel Regional next Saturday at Edgewood Golf Club in Anderson.
Haylee King led Union County with an 82. The other scores for the Patriots were Sydney McClure (92), Sarah Schwab (98), J.C. Pike (103) and Emily Treadway (120).
Franklin County’s Dana Branstetter was medalist with and 80. Tri’s Linsey Peavie was one of the top three individuals with an 89 so she moved on to the regional.
Centerville’s 401 was the next best finish among the Tri-Eastern Conference schools as the Bulldogs were sixth.
Hagerstown was seventh with a 423, Lincoln was eighth with a 556 and Northeastern ninth with a 600. Tri had two participants so there wasn’t a team score.
