RICHMOND, Ind. – The Union County baseball team split a doubleheader with Richmond on Thursday at McBride Stadium.
The Red Devils took the opener 6-5 before the Patriots bounced back with a 16-4 win in the second contest as they scored 11 times in the final two innings.
In the second game, Jacob Stansberry had two hits including a homer to knock in five runs, while Mason Miller had three doubles and a triple to drive in three.
Zander Kottka had three RBI with a hit. Cameron Donovan had two hits and two RBI.
Justin Witter and Mook Shepler had two hits and a RBI. Leighton Schulte had a hit and RBI.
Dustin Freeman earned the victory on the mound with help from Miller and Kottka as the trio limited the Red Devils to three hits.
Preston Scott and Donovan had two hits apiece in the opener. Miller knocked in a pair of runs with Shepler and Kottka each recording sacrifice fly.
The Patriots (14-3, 5-0) visit Tr-Eastern Conference foe Knightstown on Saturday.
