ST. LEON, Ind. – The Union County boys tennis team dropped its season opener 5-0 on Thursday at East Central.
In singles, Leighton Schulte fell to Chase Lambridines 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1. At No. 2, Jacob Stansberry was defeated by Matt Kuebel 6-1, 6-1. In the third position, Joey Weller lost to Clark Maxwell 6-0, 6-0.
At No. 1 doubles, Owen Miller and Austin Bowling were beaten by Braeden Vittich and Bryce Stonefield 6-0, 6-4. Alex Fuller and Tyler Soper lost to Jared Volpenheim and Allen Pope 6-1, 6-1.
The Patriots compete in the Hagerstown Invitational on Saturday.
