LEWISVILLE, Ind. – Blake Fields tossed a 6-yard touchdown pass to Nate Webb in overtime on Friday night as the Union County football team finished the regular season with a 46-40 victory over Tri High.
Both teams had leads throughout the Tri-Eastern Conference affair, but the Patriots eventually trailed 32-16 and 40-24 in the final period before coming back to tie it at 40-40 at the end of the fourth quarter.
Fields was 13-of-27 for 215 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for a score in the fourth period.
Derek Dearth had 112 yards on the ground with a pair of touchdowns. Mason Wicker also gained 77 yards and Tucker Coffman added 56.
Webb finished with three catches for 62 yards and had another score in addition to the game-winner. Wicker had three receptions for 103 yards with a touchdown. Ryan Hensley had five grabs for 45 yards.
For the Titans, Alex Melton was 14-of-25 for 262 yards with three touchdown passes and a rushing score.
Nick Wilson had 197 yards rushing with two touchdowns, while grabbing seven passes for 141 yards with three scores. Kyler Burchett had three catches for 29 yards. Masen Phelps had two for 46 yards.
Defensively for the Patriots, Webb and Chase Thompson led the way with eight tackles each, while Wicker finished with seven.
Justin Greene led the Titans with eight tackles with Drew Mondrush adding seven stops. Austin Fowler had an interception.
Union County (5-4, 4-3) entertains Indianapolis Scecina (8-1) in the opening round of Class 2A sectional play.
The Titans (4-5, 3-4) face Oldenburg (2-7) at home in their Class 1A sectional opener.
