NEW CASTLE, Ind. – Union County opened its softball season on Thursday with a 5-4 comeback win over New Castle.
The Patriots trailed 3-0 heading into the fourth inning before they tied the affair with three runs.
Union County took the lead for good in the fifth with two more runs.
Emma Adams led the Patriots with two hits and two RBI. Haylee Richards also knocked in a run with a hit. Makayla Pike added a double.
Rachel Sparks tossed a complete game with seven strikeouts. She helped her cause at the plate with a hit with two RBI.
