Lincoln’s Garrett Pumphrey
CAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind. – Garrett Pumphrey recorded a triple-double on Friday night to lead the Lincoln boys basketball team to a 55-46 victory over Winchester.
Pumphrey scored 17 points to go with 11 rebounds and 11 blocks in the Tri-Eastern Conference affair.
A barrage of 3-pointers and solid defense proved to be the difference for the Golden Eagles.
“Our defensive effort was outstanding,” Lincoln Head Coach Rodney Klein said.
Winchester led 14-13 after one period and then 25-24 by the intermission.
In the third quarter, Lincoln hit five of its nine 3-pointers to outscore the Golden Falcons 19-6 in the frame.
Caleb Craig and Hayden Pierce both drilled a pair from long range and Austin Wampler added another as the Golden Eagles built a 43-31 advantage on their way to the victory.
Craig finished with 13 points and Pierce added eight.
Cameron Gwin finished with seven points and Wampler had six.
For the Golden Falcons, Trey Graft led the way with 17 points.
Boo Enis and Isaiah Jordan-Miller had nine points apiece. Lukas Mills had six points.
Winchester won the JV contest 71-53 as the Golden Falcons had four players in double figures led by Nathaniel Dunica with 17 points.
Ross Culy had 14 points with Jesse Rhoades adding 12. Cole Campbell had 11.
The Golden Eagles were led by Michael Dalrymple with 16 points.
Dillon Asher had 14 and Keaton Southerland added 11.
Both teams return to action next Friday.
Lincoln (8-11, 3-4) faces Seton (5-15) at Earlham, while Winchester (5-13, 3-4) entertains league foe Northeastern (13-7, 5-1).
