JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. – The Northeastern boys basketball team bounced back on Tuesday with an 85-45 victory over Rock Creek in the opener of the Jeffersonville Holiday Tournament.
The Class 2A second-ranked Knights had four players in double digits as Tyler Smith led the way with 23 points against the Kentucky school.
Northeastern led 25-12 after one period before pulling away by halftime with a 44-24 advantage.
Smith’s output on Tuesday gives him 1,461 points in his career and moves him past Cory Ryan to become the all-time leading scorer for the Knights. Ryan (1995-1999) had 1,445 points.
Freeman Brou finished with 20 and Jordan Stolle added 15. Nate Reynolds tossed in 13.
The Knights (7-1) meet LaPorte (6-1) in the second round of the event on Wednesday at 9 a.m.
The Class 4A Slicers defeated Louisville Southern 58-37 in the first round.
