CENTERVILLE, Ind. – Centerville Head Softball Coach Avon Miller welcomes back several players from last year’s Tri-Eastern Conference championship squad.
“I’m looking forward to a very positive season,” said Miller, who is entering his fourth season. “We have 15 returning players from last year.”
Five of the eight seniors were honored by the conference a year ago after finishing 14-6 overall and 7-0 in the league.
Lauren Honkomp, Kaylin Smith, Amanda Wilson and Madison Clark were All-TEC last season, while Natalie Josephson was honorable mention.
Honkomp, who has signed with NCAA Div. II University of Indianapolis, was the team’s top pitcher with a 12-3 mark with an ERA of 1.17. She also led the Bulldogs with a .439 batting average.
Smith led Centerville with five homers and 23 RBI, while hitting .318. Wilson (.435) and Clark (.414) were also forces on offense. Josephson batted .288.
Makayla Troutwine, Maggie Curts and Britney Hughes are the other three seniors expected to contribute. The juniors on the squad are Kaylee Duncil, Madison Barrett, Ashley Williams and Abby Sewell.
The sophomores are Savana Kates, Maggie Ringley, Courtney Riall, Cassidy Weiss and Megan Stelle. Freshmen Trinitee Woods, Kelsee Troutwine, Carlie Doolin, Brooklyn St. Clair and Shelby Koch round out the roster.
