CAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind. – Lincoln Head Softball Coach Scott Griffin welcomes back a solid core of players from last year’s sectional championship squad.
Lincoln’s top two hitters from the team that went 15-12 headline the group of returnees.
Junior Kerrigan Neff was named to the All-Tri-Eastern Conference team a year ago after leading the Golden Eagles with four home runs and 25 RBI, while batting .381.
Sophomore Hannah Hall led Lincoln with a .421 batting average. Both players collected 32 hits to lead the team.
Griffin has a simple goal for the Golden Eagles, who finished 3-4 in the conference.
“Compete for TEC title, prepare for a solid tournament showing and to pick up where we left off last year as for as an understanding of the game,” Griffin said. “I also expect to be a better offensive team.”
Griffin expects Hall and Laynie Russell to spend time on the mound.
Dakota Harrison and Brooke Crouch are returning seniors. Also back are juniors Karlee Shank, Madison Siggers, Sydney Miller and Alex Cox.
Others on the roster are junior Whitney West and sophomore Kiki Rodriguez along with freshmen Taylor Gregory, Emmie Pugh and Kiley Smith.
“We have a solid group of freshman, some of which will contribute at the varsity level,” Griffin said.
The Golden Eagles open April 5 at Eastern Hancock.
