CONNERSVILLE, Ind. – A dozen individuals and two relay teams will represent the Tri-Eastern Conference at the girls track regional after their performances on Tuesday night at the Connersville Sectional.
TEC champ Centerville was third in the event for the top finish among the conference squads.
“I’m really excited for those girls,” Centerville Head Coach Mike Day said of his qualifiers for next Tuesday’s regional at Warren Central. “It’s a little bittersweet because it’s the end of a career for 10 (others) with one them being my daughter.”
On the team side, Seton won its first sectional with 125 from just seven participants. Connersville was next at 117.5 with Centerville having 74.
The rest of the teams scores were Hagerstown 70, Richmond 62.5, Rushville 57, Union County 45, Lincoln 24, Tri 23 and Northeastern 19.
For Centerville, Ashley Toschlog was advanced as a champion in the 3,200 (12:00.91) and after finishing second in the 1,600 (5:35.49).
“Ashley crushed her school record time in the 32,” Day said.
With third place finishes for Centerville, Jolie Rusznak moved on in the 100 Hurdles (17.57) and 300 Hurdles (53.02), while Emily Willis qualified in the Discus (100’3″).
Centerville’s 3,200 Relay team of Toschlog, Anna Hawk, Madilyn Coomes and Kayla Newman was third with a 10:54.72.
Tiger Champ
Hagerstown had a champion with Aimee Hoodlebrink winning once and advancing in two other events.
“I think they performed well,” Hagerstown Head Coach Karen Matanich said of her squad. “The (rainy) weather played a part in it.”
Hoodlebrink won the Long Jump (15’8½”) and was second in the 100 (13.50) and 200 (28.06).
In the 400 Relay, Hagerstown’s Ana Terry, Madeline Henley, Beth Jenkins and Hoodlebrink finished third in 54.18.
A Knight Victory
Northeastern’s Faith Stegall won the Discus (100’6″) as teammate Madison Adams (31’8½”) took third in the Shot Put.
“They just did a great job,” Northeastern Head Coach Tom Locke said of his qualifying duo. “(Faith) was struggling a little bit, but I kept telling her it only takes one throw. She eventually put everything together and came out a champion. It was her best throw of the year.”
