There will be plenty of basketball action for the Tri-Eastern Conference boys teams this week as the schedule resumes with two tournaments and a few regular season contests.
Northeastern, ranked No. 3 in Class 2A, is hosting an eight-team event on Monday and Tuesday, while Hagerstown participates in a similar event at Edinburgh.
In the opener in Fountain City, Union County (3-3) faces Southwestern (3-5). The second contest features Lawrenceburg (3-3) and Monroe Central (2-6).
The Knights (4-1) square off with New Washington (4-2) in the third affair with Class 1A No. 15 Gary 21st Century (5-2) playing Triton Central (1-6).
The second round of games are later on Monday with the final games on Tuesday.
Edinburgh
Edinburgh’s tournament has the same format as the Northeastern tourney.
On Monday, Indianapolis Lutheran (3-2) and South Decatur (1-6) play in the first contest. Hagerstown (6-1) and Jac-Cen-Del (4-1) meet in the second game. The other Monday games are Medora (2-5) vs. Edinburgh (2-6) and Indianapolis Manual (5-1) against Trinity Lutheran (3-3).
After a second round on Monday, the tourney finishes on Tuesday with another set of contests.
Regular Season Contests
There are nine regular season games this week with six of them on Saturday as 2016 begins.
On Tuesday, Anderson Prep (0-7) visits Tri (2-5) and Winchester (2-3) travels to Jay County (1-4).
Tri is back in action on Wednesday at Wes-Del (5-3).
Hagerstown and Class 1A No. 4 Seton (8-1) meet at Earlham on Saturday.
Also on Saturday, Winchester entertains Bluffton (6-1), Cowan (3-4) is at Union City (4-3). Daleville (1-6) is at Lincoln (4-4) and Union County visits Morristown (3-4).
