With the Thanksgiving Weekend just around the corner, the Tri-Eastern Conference girls basketball teams get started early this week.
A pair former players from the Earlham College women’s program face each other as Northeastern (0-5) entertains Seton (0-2) on Monday. Princess Darnell is in her first season with the Knights, while Karmell Brown is in her second year with the Cardinals.
The Knights are also in action on Tuesday at Monroe Central (2-2), but the first of three TEC match-ups is that night as well. With both teams coming off victories, Lincoln (3-1) visits Centerville (2-4) for the conference opener for both schools. The Golden Eagles won 64-53 at home over Shenandoah, while the Bulldogs picked up a 52-45 victory at Knightstown.
Hagerstown (3-2, 0-0) travels to Winchester (3-3, 0-1) to highlight Wednesday’s slate. Tri (5-1) gets a visit from Knightstown (1-3) as part of a varsity boys-girls doubleheader that night.
Friday’s only affair has two of last year’s three TEC co-champs battling in Union City as the Indians (3-2, 1-0) welcome Union County (3-3, 0-0). Last season, the Patriots won 44-41 in Liberty for what turned out to be a critical contest in the TEC race.
The final game of the week is in Centerville as the Bulldogs get a visit from No. 4 Lapel (3-0). Lapel handed Lincoln its only loss so far with a 79-66 decision last Friday.
