FLORA, Ind. – Top-ranked Hagerstown advanced to Saturday night’s regional championship game with a 6-0 win over Attica in the Class 1A Carroll Regional.
“Trey Kelley put us on his back and carried us with a great pitching performance,” Hagerstown Head Coach Brad Catey said.
Kelley went the distance against the Red Ramblers (11-14) allowing just two hits with 11 strikeouts.
The contest was scoreless until the fifth inning.
“Mason Hicks got us going with a huge home run,” Catey said.
The Tigers added more three runs runs that frame including an inside-the-park homer by Kelley.
Hagerstown (23-3) faces Rossville (22-8) in the title contest that begins at 8 p.m.
The third-ranked Hornets (22-8) beat defending state champ and No. 6 Daleville 11-3 in the regional opener.
Attica is the only common opponent between Hagerstown and Rossville. The Hornets defeated Attica 8-4 and 13-8 in the doubleheader back in April.
