RICHMOND, Ind. – Hagerstown and Centerville won matches on Wednesday to advance to the next round of the Richmond Girls Tennis Sectional.
The Tigers defeated Lincoln 4-1 on the Tiernan Center Courts, while the Bulldogs posted a 3-2 victory over Seton.
Hagerstown won two singles contests and then swept the doubles competition to advance to face on Northeastern on Thursday.
Savannah Houck won 6-1, 6-2 over Lincoln’s Jamie Buhl at No. 1 singles. At No. 3, Jacqueline Habzansky defeated Ali Reece 5-7, 6-1, 6-4.
In doubles, the Tigers got a win from Mekayla Todd and McKenzie Fleming over Kylei Klein and Lydia Bertsch 6-0, 6-4 in the top spot. At. No. 2, Kayla Vinson and Abby Shepherd beat Leslie Richardson and Kami Laymon 6-7 (7-3), 7-5, 6-4.
Lincoln’s win came from Rachel Merida as she won 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) over Kayla McFarland at No. 2.
Centerville won all three singles matches to move on to play Richmond on Thursday.
Abby Stewart defeated Rose Chimenti 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1.
Shelby Good beat Megan Schroeder 6-3, 7-5 at No. 2 and Chloe Uphaus outlasted Brooke Gray 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 at No. 3.
Seton won the doubles matches with Maria Stiens and Gina Chimenti beating Robyn Raatz and Kendall Horner 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1. At No. 2, Ari Sanchez-Villa and Maddy Langner defeated Addie Walther and Morgan Guenther 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
Thursday’s contests get underway at 4:30 p.m. The championship is set for Friday at 4:30 p.m.
