HAGERSTOWN, Ind. – Hagerstown won a battle of unbeaten football teams in the Tri-Eastern Conference on Friday night as the Tigers defeated Union County 39-6.
Mason Hicks scored three touchdowns to lead the Hagerstown offense as the Tigers celebrated Homecoming. He opened the scoring with a 3-yard run.
Owen Golliher followed with another 3-yard run to give the Tigers a 12-0 lead after one period.
Hicks had a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter. The first was on an 87-yard pass from Golliher and the other on a run of 24 yards.
Hagerstown’s other score in the frame came on a 45-yard pass from Camden Rhoades to Cody Swimm.
Union County’s score came on a 5-yard pass from Matt Fields to Nate Webb as the Tigers built a 32-6 halftime advantage.
After a scoreless third, Golliher hooked up with Rhoades for a 30-yard scoring strike.
Hicks finished with 111 yards on the ground, while grabbing three passes for 129 yards.
Golliher completed 11-of-25 passes for 250 yards.
For the Patriots, Fields was 12-of-28 for 76 yards. Derek Dearth gained 59 yards rushing. Mason Wicker had 38 rushing yards.
Ryan Hensley had six receptions for 42 yards, while Webb finished with five catches for 34 yards.
Defensively for the Tigers, Ryan Golliher led the way with nine tackles. Jalen Oliver picked off two passes, while Cameron Purtha had an interception and a fumble recovery. Grant Vinson also had an interception.
Webb topped Union County with seven tackles. Hensley added a pair of interceptions. Jamie White recovered a fumble.
Next Friday, Hagerstown (4-1, 3-0) entertains Tri High (3-2, 2-2), while Union County (3-2, 2-1) visits Lincoln (0-5, 0-3).
