CAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind. – The Hagerstown volleyball team won its third sectional championship in school history on Saturday as the Tigers posted a 25-16, 25-14, 25-15 win over Centerville at Lincoln is Class 2A action.
“It’s been a long time coming,” Hagerstown Head Coach Brian Dale said of his second-ranked Tigers. “It’s all about them. I’m so proud of them.”
Dale was excited for his seniors Hannah Rogers, Amiee Hoodlbrink, Brytni Dale and Victoria Pierson as they added to the legacy of the 1979 and 1992 Hagerstown squads.
“My seniors are amazing,” he said. “I’m so glad to see them get this.”
Winners of 24 straight, the Tigers (34-1) are headed to the regional round on Tuesday at Shenandoah (21-12).
Centerville Head Coach Stephanie Hornak was pleased with her team’s effort as the Bulldogs finish the season at 16-13.
“We hung in,” she said. “We knew it was going to be a tough game. They are a very solid team.”
Regan Tinkle led the Tigers with eight kills. Dale added seven kills, while Taylor Kelley, Jessica Swimm and Beth Jenkins contributed five kills apiece.
Rogers topped the squad with 14 assists and Jenkins had 13 assists. Pierson led the way with 26 digs. Dale ended with 15 digs and Hoodlebrink had 14 digs. Lacee Dale had 10 digs.
For Centerville, Kelsee Troutwine had seven kills and two blocks. Addie Walther had five kills, two blocks and eight digs. Morgan Toschlog had 13 digs and a pair of aces. Ally Staton had 10 assists and Logan Erbse added nine digs.
