Hagerstown won the Wayne County Tournament for the third year in a row at Winding Branch Golf Course on May 31.
PERSHING, Ind. – Hagerstown’s boys golf team won its second event of the week as the Tigers won the Wayne County Tournament on Wednesday at Winding Branch Golf Course.
The Tigers dusted off the record book as they shot 300 as a team to break the school mark of 308 that was established in 1959.
It was a great day for Tiger golf,” Hagerstown Head Coach Billy Mullin said. “I push the kids hard, but it’s hard to ask for more than this. They are getting recognized for the work they’ve put in.”
Caleb Cochran was the medalist for the second time in two days as he carded a 72.
“I’m playing great right now,” Cochran said. “I’m getting more and more confident with myself and my swing.”
Hagerstown also won the team championship for the third straight year.
“It means a lot,” Cochran said. “I’m proud of my team.”
In addition to Caleb Cochran, the Tigers also had Kevin Beeson with a 73 and Carson Orr with a 75 on the all-county team.
“I feel really good about what I did,” said Beeson, who had a career-best effort. “I thought we did really good and broke the school record.”
Centerville’s Mason Rader had a 73 to earn his spot on the all-county squad. while Northeastern’s Garrett Schuler and Bryce Cowen both had a 79 to make the team.
