UNION CITY, Ind. – The Hagerstown boys basketball team posted a 63-36 win over the Indians as the Class 2A No. 9 Tigers remain in the top spot in the TEC standings at 4-0.
Jared Andis got the Tigers off to a 9-0 advantage as he hit his first three shots from behind the 3-point line.
“We stressed making the extra pass,” Hagerstown coach Bobby Jones said. “Our guys did a good job of finding him in transition. Really for the first time this season, Jalen Oliver and Jared Andis did a really good job of playing off each other. It was one the biggest reasons we were able to bust the game open.”
Andis led the Tigers with 26 points and five rebounds, while Oliver added nine points. Trey Kelley added eight points.
Jones is mostly concerned with the Tigers improving each day.
“That’s something we talked about this week in practice,” Jones said. “We’ve really turned our focus to that in practice and haven’t worried so much about who we are playing and worried more about us. I thought tonight was a good team effort at the defensive end.”
Hagerstown led 15-5 after one period and then 25-11 at the half before the Tigers finished the third frame up 43-25.
The Indians were led by Zach Bradbury, who had 12 points. Bryten Stewart contributed seven points. Trevor Thompson had five rebounds.
Union City returns to action on Saturday as the Indians (2-12, 1-3) visit Blue River. Hagerstown (14-3, 4-0) travels to Northeastern for TEC affair on Thursday.
