EDINBURGH, Ind. – With a pair of victories on Monday, the Hagerstown boys basketball team advanced to the championship game of the Edinburgh Tournament.
The Tigers (8-1) began the day with a 56-45 win over Jac-Cen-Del before defeating Indianapolis Lutheran 52-42 to move into Tuesday’s title contest against Indianapolis Manual (7-1).
“Two hard-fought wins,” Hagerstown Head Coach Bobby Jones said. “Two great total team efforts today and we like where we are at.”
Jared Andis led Hagerstown with 19 points against Jac-Cen-Del (4-2), while Isaiah Neal added 18 points.
Hagerstown was on top 36-33 after three quarters as the Tigers were able to pull away in the final period as Andis went 8-of-8 from the free throw line.
Neal scored 16 points to pace the Tigers against Indianapolis Lutheran (4-3). Andis and Mason Stitt each finished with nine points.
“I was very pleased with our bench today picking up the slack when we got in foul trouble, especially against Jac-Cen-Del,” Jones said.
“Jared Andis is starting to shoot the ball well,” Jones added. “Isaiah Neal is continuing to score and guard the other team’s star, while Bret Templin is doing a great job getting the ball to our shooters.”
